For the second Smiling Savage photo gallery I wanted to highlight work I captured of people working.
My inspiration for this series was Sebastião Salgado’s amazing book Workers. Salgado’s work is far, far more gritty and mesmerizing than I ever achieved. I can’t recommend it enough.
As before, all these images are from around the Midwest in the early 90s, shot on a Canon F1 with a 50MM f1.4 on Tri-X 400. These represent a mix of proofs and prints scanned by Photomyne, and shown digitally for the first time.
For paid subscribers there are more photos after the paywall.
