Photo gallery: Abandoned places
For the first Smiling Savage photo gallery I’m showing work I made showing abandoned places around Iowa in the early 90s.
When I see these now I think about the excellent work by Abandoned America, which I love! I think Abandoned America proprietor Matthew Christopher has my dream job — although I’ll bet some of those places can be terrifying.
At the time I was shooting a Canon F1, usually with a 50MM f1.4, with either Kodak Tri-X 400 or Kodak T-Max 3200.
These scans are of the prints, or sometimes just proofs, that I made in the darkroom and now have scanned with Photomyne. I haven’t touched up the app’s scanning as I have a lot more negatives which may yield better quality. I’ll plan to scan and share more as I get to them.
My favorites of these I have framed around my place. This is the first time they’ve been digital.
