1963 MG Midget Mk1
It’s time for me to find a good home for my Mk 1 Midget. GAN1L6759.
Titled 1963 here in Virginia (inside the DC beltway), I think it was born a bit earlier before the stork dropped it off in San Diego. I’ve had it garaged full-time here in Virginia since 2005.
Its 1298 engine was rebuilt when I bought it, at what was called 7,363 miles — and all told I haven’t put appreciable miles on it since this was a fair weather, topless-only affair. However, I haven’t had it out in going on four years, and now it is a bigger project.
The Mk1s are the rawest expression of the series, and timeless. Muggles have no idea what it is when they see it, and I’d be content to just look at it for the rest of my days but it deserves more than being on roller skates in my garage.
The car has never been restored and yet it is beautiful at 60. I’ve included some pretty sun-lit pictures, artsy black and whites, and gritty details of the underside.
